CyberMoon Book of Shadows Index
Imbolc Spell by: Abby Willowroot The fires of Brigit were tended by nineteen priestesses at Kildare, Ireland. Today these same sacred fires are tended by nineteen nuns. In the spirit of Brigit's fire, light white, red, or yellow candles to celebrate the return of the light at this time of year. Sing this verse while you light the candles: Mighty Brigit, goddess of the forge, flying sparks and light, Mistress who commands the strength of fire and healing sight. Patroness of poets, healers, and smiths, Bring thy blessings and gifts. Holder who balances the delicate forces of fire’s birth and death. Transformation come, inspiration flow, Brigit bless all you know. Element of fire, may you with Brigit’s sacred light always warmly glow. Priestess of fire and light, open up the forge and let creativity flow. Visions of magic, muse to bards, Let the winds of imagination blow. Brigit dance in my life and dreams, The ancient truths reveal. Share your fires of healing and vibrant health, And keep my spirit well. Protectress of mothers and children be, Always watch over me. May your fires burn bright in my heart, And bless each project that I start. Deep in the earth your wells of inspiration flow abundant and free. Come share your overflowing bounty with others and with me. Mighty Brigit, this I know. Where your magic is, So do the wise go. May I be among your blessed, Fill my heart and spirit with all that is best. Holiday lore:On Imbolc, a bundle of corn from the harvest is dressed in ribbons and becomes the Corn Bride. On February 2, the Corn Bride is placed on the hearth or hung on the door to bring prosperity, fertility, and protection to the home. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Autumn Blessing by: Abby Willowroot On this day of balance—between hot and cold, light and dark—we can find balance in an autumnal blessing. Use a white and a black candle, placed side by side, for this ritual. Breathe in the glow that comes from the equal balance of day and night. Decorate your sacred space with fruits and grain and harvest leaves, as you slowly speak this verse: Protection covers me and mine, Abundant gifts grow from Nature divine. Mabon comes with balance dear, The second such time of the year. Second harvest abundance flows, Through our labor the storehouse grows. We fill our stores through harvest Moon, For winter’s cold is coming soon. Harvest brings both hope and fear, Harder times are drawing near. Bless this house with abundance clear, And bless all who are dwelling here. Strength of the cycles For all to see, Bringing color to land and tree. Red, yellow, brown, and amber, Dress the forests, preparing for slumber. My spirit embrace the dwindling light, I am ready now for the longer night. Protection and safety there will be, As the wheel of the year turns, blessed be. The balance now is perfect and right, Preparations made for Demeter’s night. Searching she goes and searching she will be, Till Kore’s return to you and me. Mabon’s magic dances in me, Autumn blessings to all, So mote it be. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Summer Solstice Spell by: Abby Willowroot Solstice is one of the holiest days of the year. At first light, take a tall white or yellow candle and a short black candle outside; light them to symbolize the longest day and shortest night of the year. A flower-scented incense is good to burn while you intone the words below: Brother Sun and Mother Moon, Day is longest now. Energies of the brilliant Sun Aid all at work Or having fun. Longest day,A blessing is, From rise to set supreme is the Sun. Fueling growth and passions bright, Strong and true is the solar light. Bounty grows And river flows, As Earth is warmed and lighted. Creative energy reaches zenith on this day of shortest night. Crops grow high and excitement grows, with each new ray of Sun. Every day, All creatures play and hail the mighty Sun. Ancient solstice, Fires burning, Honor the Sun and feed the light. Druid, Indian, Norse, and Celt all danced on Summer Solstice, joyously felt. Solar winds and solar flares Wash away our hunger and our cares. Mighty Sun,King of warmth, Makes humans to frolic and bees to swarm.
