Finding the Perfect Pet Spell
To find a new pet, first think of the type of pet you want. Then go through a magazine, looking for images and words that describe your perfect pet. Cut them out and attach them to some construction paper. Visualize your perfect pet living and interacting with you. Be open to the many ways it is possible for your pet to arrive. If you get an urge to go to the animal shelter or to tell a specific person you are looking for a pet, follow through on it.

Creating a Familiar Spell
This rite it designed specifically for cats, but may be employed with any animal you wish to make your familiar spirit. Each night during the cycle of the waxing Moon, sit closely with the animal. Arrange it so that you are both facing toward the horizon where the Moon shall rise. Stroke the creature firmly, but with love, until he or she begins to purr of relax. Align your own breathing with the purr, or in the case of a creature other than feline friend, align your breathing with that of the animal. Continue to do this each night at moonrise. When the Moon is at full, your will shall be as one with that of your familiar. You shall see through its eyes, and it will see through yours. Your thoughts shall be as one, and you will share a single heart.

Protective Blessing for Dogs:
Diana, Goddess of the Wild,

Flea Banishing Spell
If a flea bites your hand, you will receive good news. However, when fleas invade your home and torment your pets, it’s hard to believe there is anything lucky about the little beasts. Effective flea treatments are available from pet supply stores and veterinarians, but for a magical solution place small pillows stuffed with herbs in your pet’s bed. For dogs use rue, chamomile, winter savory, or pennyroyal. For cats use chamomile or valerian. Add an extra punch by repeating the following banishment three times after you treat your pets or household: “Depart, all ye animals without bones.”

Fish Spell
Fish make wonderful pets, while an aquarium makes a great water altar. All you need is an aquarium and at least one fish. To start, invoke your favorite water goddess, such as Oshun or Yemaya. Then say: “Mother of the waters, I dedicate this aquarium to you. Let it become an altar to honor your elemental magic. Help me keep it pure and healthy as a monument to water’s power.” That’s all it takes.

Spell to Cure Pet Wanderlust
To keep your cat or dog from wandering, light a green candle. Give your pet a treat and repeat the following three times:
[Pet’s name], my wayward little friend,
Your wandering days must end.
Forget your urge to run and roam.
It’s time for you to stay at home.
Sprinkle a pinch of salt on the animal’s tail, give him another treat, and extinguish the candle. Repeat this three nights in a row. Before you extinguish the candle on the final night, rub the bottom of your pet’s paws with butter.

Invocation for a Sick or Injured Pet
You can perform this ritual for animals recuperating at home, as well as for those at the veterinarian. Light a white candle, and visualize a protective dome of warm soothing light surrounding your pet. When your emotions are calm and your thoughts are still, ask the Great Mother for her assistance by saying: “Mistress of the Beasts, send your healing, courage, strength, and love to [pet’s name] in this time of need.”

Call A Household Pet
If you are insterested in a certain kind of animal, say a poodle or angora cat, gather everyone in your household together for this ten minute ritual. First, light a votive candle. Say in a loud voice, “We want a poodle (or other type of animal) to be here with us.” Have everyone mention something they intend to offer the pet—love, time, walks in the park, play, snuggling, food. Together take a few quiet moments to visualize life with the imagined pet. Then blow out the candle, and exclaim, “Welcome to our home!” Follow your hunches about where and when to find your new household member.

Wandering Pet Protection Spell
Spread out a white handkerchief. On it, place a clipping of your pet’s hair and a picture of your home or one of you and your pet together. Imagine your pet back in its favorite inside place, sleeping contentedly. Keep this image in mind and say:
From this place you will not roam,
For you are safe and loved at home.
Whenever you leave, Return to me,
From this dawn onward. So mode it be!
Wrap the photo and hair in the hankie and tie it securely. Place it near your pet’s favorite inside place.

Spell to Find a Lost Cat
For this spell to find a lost cat or other small pet, you’ll need the assistance of a tree, rock, or other outdoor entity—preferably one in your yard or very near your home. Take one of your cat’s favorite toys and some cat food to the tree. Tell the tree about your pet and that you are concerned because of how long he or she has been missing. Ask the tree if it will help you by providing a beacon for your cat to follow to get home. Leave the cat food near the tree. If a small rock gets your attention, bring it and the cat toy into the house. Keep them near the door. Every time you pass the toy, thank the tree for its help in providing a beacon for your pet.

Pet Memorial Ritual
To hold a memorial for a special pet who has passed on, place a picture of your pet (preferably taken when it was in its prime) on your altar. Lightdirectional candles, and place them around the picture. Light a black candle, and place it next to or on top of the picture. Meditate on your pet’s life and the joy it brought you. Look at the picture and speak words of peace for your pet’s soul:
Like the wind, soar free through the heavens.
Like a flame, warm the hearts of those who think of you.
Like water, let your spirit flow ever onward,
Like the earth, be steadfast awaiting rebirth.
As the wheel turns, may you find as much joy in your next life as you gave in this life.
