Saffron's Cauldron

Information and Spells by Saffron
Edition 1
July 2003

Welcome to the first edition of Saffron’s Cauldron! This will be a monthly article that discusses spells and information that can be used in doing spell work. I’ll be keeping you posted on new and old spells, Rituals that you can use for the upcoming Sabbaths, loads of information pertaining to spell work, charms and tools that you can use in your daily life.

Spell working can range from the simple to the complex, or the serious to the down right fun! Depending on your needs you may want to tailor a spell to the work you are doing. Over the next few months, I’ll be teaching you how to “make a spell your own” and will even give you a “Spell Outline” that you can use to create and re-create any type of spell you need. We’ll talk about tools and their uses, how to create a charm, the meaning of the Sabbath’s and much, much more!

So dust off that BOS and sharpen a new quill… you may even want to buy a new ink well while you are at it! I have loads of info to give you and it’s going to be fun!

This month I have a fun spell for you to start with. Keep in mind spell work is 98% YOUR intent so if you are ever working a spell that’s not quite right, always feel free to change it up a bit to fit your needs. Follow your intuition and you can never go wrong!

This First spell is a real favorite of mine, as I tend to travel a good deal. It’s a great spell to teach your little ones when on a long ride! Enjoy!

Travel Dragon Spell

Who wouldn’t feel safe in a vehicle with a dragon flying above it?
To get one of your own, try sitting in your vehicle and saying:

”Majestic winged creature,
Traveler of the realms, hear my plea.
Carry me to my destinations
Ever in safety.

Whistle three times and listen for the dragon’s name.
Call on this dragon whenever you travel by whistling three times,
calling its name, and thanking it for its protection.

An example of changing this spell might be to use an Angel or Fairy instead of a Dragon. Then you could change up the first line to say “Graceful winged creature”… you see how that works? Little boys might like the Dragon and little girls the Angel or Fairy. And what of those that can’t whistle? How about snapping three times instead, or blowing on a magical flute? As you can see, it’s easy to tailor a spell to your needs and desires. We haven’t changed the basic requirements of the spell. We still have a magical creature to call upon and will thrice call its name (a good magical number) and create a specific sound the entity can identify with each time we need their protection. This can also be used in or on any mode of transportation, including a plane or even a bicycle!

Well, I think that’s probably given you a lot to think about for this month so I will leave you to ponder this fun little spell for a while! Be sure to give it a try next time you are out and about. Start spreading YOUR wings and have a little fun with spell work. It can be a great deal of fun as well as very beneficial to your life!

Until next month,
Blessings to you and yours!
